Shefali Dhar is the Senior IT Director within the Office of Instruction. She provides expert guidance, strategic planning, and facilitates consensus-building for the successful execution of initiatives. In addition, she leads the Application Development Unit, a specialized team focusing on agile development methodologies.
She oversees seven critical university-wide systems, including the comprehensive course approval system – CAPA, the Online Bulletin, Double Dawgs program, First-Year Odyssey Seminar program, Faculty Syllabus system, General Education approval system, as well as the Study Abroad Academic approval system. These systems have a far-reaching impact on prospective and current students, as well as faculty, staff, and administration.
Dhar provides leadership, strategic planning, and direction for high-profile, President/Provost-level university-wide initiatives. Both the current five-year ACES project and the three-year Course Program of Study project are integral to the university’s forward trajectory.
As the lead for the five-year ACES project to implement Institutional Competencies and a Comprehensive Learner Record among others, Dhar helps determine the strategy and planning for the project. She collaborates and oversees the work of university partners to ensure successful implementation. She works with third-party vendors and oversees all aspects of the project’s technical implementation.
As a core member of the three-year CPOS project, she contributes to its strategic planning, collaborating with university partners to guarantee its effective execution. She supervises the efforts of university partners involved in the curriculum revision approval process.
Dhar’s responsibilities extend to the management and integration of curriculum data with the university-wide student information system, Banner. Additionally, she supervises the development of reports in Argos pertaining to curriculum-related data.
In her role as an IT leader, Dhar is a member of various Banner governance groups on campus. She drives collaborative efforts across various IT units within the Office of Instruction, championing seamless integration and operational efficiency. She started the Tech Connect initiative, aiming to foster a community of IT expertise that collaborates on interdependent goals, shared skills, and enhances organizational communication within the Office of Instruction.
She holds a bachelor of science degree with a specialization in chemistry, and master’s degrees in computer science, and in computer management.
