David Graves is director of Undergraduate Admissions at the University of Georgia.
In his role as director, Graves oversees new student recruitment and application review for first-year and transfer applicants to the University of Georgia. He also oversees student orientation and the awards process for the majority of UGA’s merit-based scholarships.
He joined UGA in 1997 and has held many positions in UGA’s admissions office, including assistant director, associate director, senior associate director, and interim director of admissions. Previously, he managed the operations side of the office with a focus on the academic and holistic review process.
He has helped the admissions team innovate their admission process and greatly expanded the use of technology in the admissions office. For the past 15 years, he has been the author of the UGA Admissions Blog, providing advice to prospective students and parents while helping them navigate the admissions process.
During his career at UGA, Graves has served as the admissions team lead for the university-wide Banner Implementation Project, and he was the team lead in implementing the current Admissions Customer Relationship Management (CRM) recruitment system. He is also the admissions liaison for both the Board of Regents and the UGA Athletic Association.
Graves engagement in admissions goes beyond UGA as well. He has been a presenter and member of a number of regional and national admissions associations, from the National Association for College Admissions Counseling to the Southern Association for Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Counselors. He and his team have also assisted a large number of colleges in implementing their own CRM recruitment systems.
Graves holds two degrees from Clemson University: a bachelor’s degree in history and a master’s degree in English. He has also volunteered with Camp Sunshine, a camp for children with cancer, for the last 29 years.
