Applying to UGA

Whether you are applying as a first-year, transfer, or graduate student, the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and the Office of Graduate Admissions can answer your questions, guide you through the admissions process, and introduce you to UGA.

Academic Services

  • Academic Calendar — Keep up with important dates, breaks, and deadlines.
  • Registration — Register and adjust your schedule, including dropping and adding classes.
  • UGA Bulletin — Explore and compare majors, minors, and certificates as well as research courses.
  • DegreeWorks — A tool to help monitor progress towards degree completion.
  • Academic Advising — Get help achieving your academic goals.
  • Academic Honesty — Students are required to abide by the University’s student honor code and academic honesty policy and procedures.
    • Academic Appeals — Students have the right to appeal decisions on academic matters.

Academic Opportunities

  • Summer Semester — UGA offers a variety of classes in the summer both in-person and online for students to get ahead or stay on track for graduation.
  • Double Dawgs — Earn your bachelor’s and master’s degree in five years or less with select programs.
  • Experiential Learning — Explore opportunities for hands-on learning through classes, internships, research, and more.
  • First-Year Odyssey Seminar (FYOS) — Classes of 15-18 students designed to help first-year students acclimate to University culture, connect with faculty and peers, and encourage involvement in experiences outside the classroom.

Academic Support

  • Connect & Complete — Policies to support students in academic difficulty.
  • Transfer Services — Supports prospective and current transfer students.
  • UGA Libraries — Provides services such as tech lending, textbooks, and more.
  • UGA Career Center — Provides assistance with career exploration and decision making, job search skill development, career employment, and more.
  • UGA Writing Center — Assists students in understanding the writing process, elaborating on their ideas, and evaluating and editing their work.
Office for Student Success and Achievement (OSSA)

UGA’s Office for Student Success and Achievement empowers students to achieve success throughout their academic journey.

  • Academic Coaching — One-on-one support in topics such as study habits and life after college.
  • Peer Tutoring — Free tutoring in over 300 undergraduate courses and standardized tests. Offered in one-one-one or study pod formats.
  • Student Success Workshops — Learn academic skills in a comfortable environment. Topics include note and test taking, writing, and time management.
  • First-Generation Student Support — Community events, first-gen graduation celebration, and the Alpha Alpha Alpha honor society.
  • ALL Georgia Program — Support for rural students with a network of resources, programs, and opportunities.

Resources

Financial Aid

  • Office of Student Financial Aid (OSFA) — Assists students in finding, securing, and maintaining funds to finance their education.
  • Support Funds — Emergency and/or temporary financial assistance provided by Student Care and Outreach. Funds available for undergraduate and graduate students and most colleges and schools within the University.

  • Well-Being Resources — Offers a wide range of clinical and non-clinical resources to promote student well-being and success.
  • Student Care and Outreach (SCO) — Coordinates care and assistance for all students who experience complex, hardship, and/or unforeseen circumstances by providing individualized assistance and tailored interventions.
  • Counseling and Psychiatric Services (CAPS) — Provides emotional, social, and behavioral health support. No out-of-pocket cost for fees paid students.
  • Disability Resource Center (DRC) — Assists and serves students with disabilities to ensure equal educational opportunities and promote a welcoming environment.

  • Bulldog Basics — Collects donations to provide toiletry and personal care items to Athens campus students.
  • Embark@UGA — Support for students who have experienced foster care, homelessness and/or are at rick of homelessness.
  • School Supply Closet — Provides the UGA community with school-related items.
  • SGA Professional Clothing Closet — Provides free, professional clothing for students.
  • Swap Shop — A place to trade personal items to keep usable goods out of landfills.
  • UGA Mentor Program — Program to connect students with UGA alumni and professionals.
  • UGA Food Pantry — Provides non-perishable food items and other supplies at no cost to UGA students.
