Senior Director of Instruction Fiscal Affairs & Chief of Staff

Brooke Rooks is the Director of Instruction Fiscal Affairs and Chief of Staff, where she oversees budgets for campus wide strategic initiatives, assists with academic budget planning and management for all units reporting to the Vice President for Instruction, has oversight of funding allocations for UGA’s Domestic Field Study programs, and provides guidance in the area of human resources and relations.

As Chief of Staff, she is a key member of the Vice President of Intruction’s leadership team and provides guidance and recommendations as needed. She collaborates with various partners campus wide, ensures timely deadlines are met and coordinates unit wide special events.

She has served the last two years as the Reporting Liaison Co-Chair for the Business Services Advisory Group, on the HR Transformation Advisory Group and assisted with various campus wide fiscal affairs searches. She is currently participating in the Mentoring Program at UGA supporting both staff and students.

Prior to February 2021, Brooke served as the Administrative Financial Director at the Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication for over 17 years. In this role, she served as the chief fiscal and human resources officer while coordinating $8.7M in renovation projects in the Journalism Building. She provided leadership in various forms, such as creating a years of service recognition program for faculty and staff.

In January 2000, she joined the University of Georgia as an accountant in the Contracts & Grants Department. She handled sponsored award processing, budget creation, invoicing and receivables, expense approvals, and various other special projects.

Brooke holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia and was the first staff member to receive the Darwin Davis Grady Spirit Award in 2009.
