Andy Borst is Vice Provost for Enrollment Management at the University of Georgia.
As UGA’s chief enrollment officer, he provides vision, leadership, and strategic direction in the development and attainment of enrollment priorities for the university. As Vice Provost for Enrollment Management, Borst oversees enrollment management related to undergraduate, graduate, professional, and online education, working with senior leadership to develop strategic enrollment plans, monitor enrollments and matriculation, and plan for resource implications. Borst also supervises the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and the Office of Student Financial Aid.
Borst has 20 years of experience in higher education, including 12 years serving in a senior leadership role in enrollment management. Since 2016, Borst has served as the Director of Undergraduate Admissions at the University of Illinois Urbana-Campaign, a competitive flagship and land grant university, in a similar market position as the University of Georgia.
He has experience leading university-wide initiatives to reform admissions practices, creating new tuition-guarantee programs, leveraging strategic scholarship programs, and working closely with faculty to shape admissions review criteria. He has worked in a variety of higher education settings, including two flagship universities, regional campuses, and a liberal arts college.
Borst often presents nationally on the importance of data transparency and collaboration in college admissions. He has served in multiple professional organizations and chaired the ethics committee on admissions practices for the Illinois Association of College Admission Counseling.
He is recognized as a national expert on enrollment and is often cited on topics related to college admissions and ethical considerations in enrollment in the Chronicle of Higher Education, Wall Street Journal, USA Today, and other news outlets.
He earned a B.S. from Buena Vista University, an MBA from St. Ambrose University, and a Ph.D. from the University of Iowa.
