This month’s Five Questions video features Nic Laconico, director of New Student Orientation in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. Nic has been with UGA for five years in several roles and now leads a team that introduces all incoming first-year and transfer students to the University of Georgia with immersive orientation sessions. This year, they expect to host 10,000 new students and their families – 6,200 incoming first-year students, about 2,000 transfer students in the summer and fall as well as another 2,000 transfer students in the spring.
Outside of the office, Nic enjoys exploring Athens and visiting his favorite restaurants, and he and his wife just joined a kickball league, so Nic is hoping he still has some hand-eye coordination skills for that. Nic and his wife also enjoy playing board games and just adopted an adorable chi-weenie puppy.
In this month’s video, learn how Nic became involved with New Student Orientation at UGA (after spending his undergrad at Georgia Tech), his favorite parts of working with his team and discover the best way to give Nic a compliment.
