Scholarships

Army ROTC provides merit-based scholarships and other financial aid opportunities for college-bound high school students and students already attending the University of Georgia.

To be eligible for any UGA AROTC Scholarships students must:

  • Be a U.S. citizen
  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • High School GPA of at least 2.50 term and cumulative
  • Score minimum of 1000 on the SAT or 19 on the ACT
  • Pass a military physical
  • Meet physical fitness standards
  • Be between ages of 17 and 26 (If older, please contact for waiver)
  • Agree to accept a commission and serve in the Army on Active Duty or in a Reserve Component (U.S. Army
  • Reserve or Army National Guard)
  • Have no major legal violations (minor infractions, such as speeding tickets, can be waived on a case-by-case basis)

Scholarships are available for Active Duty or Reserve Force Duty.  Four, three, and two year scholarships are available for eligible cadets.

Students may choose to either have their cost of tuition covered by the scholarship or cover their cost of living.  The scholarship can be used in conjunction with other scholarships and financial aid such as Hope, Zell Miller, GI Bill, Pel Gant, or FAFSA loans.  Once contracted, cadets will recive and additional monthly living stipend and book stipend.

General Scholarship

Scholarships are available for Active Duty or Reserve Force Duty.  Four, three, and two year scholarships are available for eligible cadets.

Students may chose to either have their full cost of tuition covered by the scholarship or cover their full cost of living.  This scholarship can be used in conjunction with other scholarships and financial aid, such as Hope, Zell Miller, GI Bill, Pell grants or FAFSA loans and is in addition to the monthly stipend and book stipend.

Guaranteed Reserve Forces Duty (GRFD) Scholarship

This scholarship commits one to join the Reserve Components, either the National Guard or Army Reserves (duty for one weekend a month / two weeks a year).

Duration of Scholarship:

Maximum of 4 years, minimum of 1 year.

Ask about the Minute Man Scholarship.

Restrictions:

Student must be in the SMP program (either National Guard or Army Reserve) and attend training for one weekend a month and two weeks a year (usually over the summer).

Commitment:

8 Years in the Reserve Components (one weekend a month / two weeks a year).

GPA:

Have and maintain a 2.5 college GPA.

Benefits:

Either full tuition and fees or room and board (up to $10,000 per year)

Books:

$1200 per year ($600 per semester).

Stipend:

$420.00 per month (while in school)

Drill Pay:

You will be paid as an E5 at drill and Annual Training.

Other:

Can be used with the HOPE and other scholarships. Cannot be converted to a Regular ROTC scholarship.
