Director, Office of University Experiential Learning | Leadership Team, Innovation District

As the Director of University Experiential Learning, Andrew Potter champions experiential learning at UGA, articulating a vision to various stakeholders within the university as well as community and industry partners.

He also serves on the University’s Innovation District Leadership Team, applying his experience supporting private equity mergers, turn-arounds, and exits to foster innovation, entrepreneurship, and experiential learning across the state of Georgia. He founded and leads UGA’s Student Industry Fellows Program, an executive development program for top undergraduate and graduate talent. He also offers cross-disciplinary courses on business strategy/development, innovation, design thinking, and human-centered design and co-leads UGA’s “Innovation Ecosystems in Israel” program each summer.

A thought leader on experiential education, workforce development, and the impact of emerging technology on society and work, Potter spent over a decade in industry executive roles, leading the development of strategy and program design to construct experiential programming at the K12 and post-secondary levels. He is the former Chair of both the Publications Committee and the Government Relations Committee for the National Council for the Social Studies; served on the Advisory Board with the Coalition for Career Development; currently serves on the Board of the Society for Experiential Education; and is the Experiential Learning Chair on the Board of the Georgia Association of Colleges and Employers.

A frequent presenter at educational institutions and national professional education organizations, Potter has presented at national conferences such as the Global Consortium of Entrepreneurship Centers; the National Career Development Summit, AAC&U Pedagogy & Assessment Conference, National Student Success Conference, the National Society for Experiential Education, the Council for Adult and Experiential Learning, and the Association for Experiential Education among others.

Potter taught at the university and high school level for over fifteen years offering courses in economics, philosophy, history, and politics. He holds a B.A. in History, a M.A. in Ancient Mediterranean Civilizations with a minor in Modern Europe from Cal State University, and a M.A. in Near Eastern and Judaic Studies from Brandeis University, while completing additional work in Semitic Languages at the American Jewish University.

In his free time, Andrew can be found dogsledding in the vast tundra of Quebec, Canada, or spending quality time with his family at the beach or on the ski slopes.
