The Office of Instruction offers many ways for students to be involved on campus. We offer ambassador programs, fellows programs, and other ways to get involved that range from introducing incoming freshmen to campus as orientation leaders to serving on an advisory board.
Ways to be involved
Office of Instruction Student Advisory Board
The Office of Instruction Student Advisory Board was created in fall 2015. The board consists of students from all backgrounds and majors who provide input on improving the academic experience for students and making an impact at the University of Georgia. Student members meet once a semester and serve for one-year terms.
Orientation leaders
The New Student Orientation Program is housed in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and supports the university and the Office of Instruction by working towards its mission: to prepare students, their families, and supporters for academic and community engagement by promoting self-cultivation, community development, and an understanding of instructional and institutional processes prior to enrollment and throughout the first year.
Peer Learning Assistants
Peer Learning Assistants are students who have successfully completed a course and then return to support the learning of students currently enrolled in the same course. The basic component of the PLA program is an undergraduate level PLA enhanced course in which the faculty member partners with PLAs to facilitate discussions and other active learning approaches among groups of students in that class. Peer Learning Assistants are paid positions.
Road Dawgs
Students spend part of spring break traveling to high schools around Georgia as the Road Dawgs. The program visits schools from Atlanta to Savannah to meet with students, talk to them about college life, and rally UGA spirit.
Student Industry Fellows
The Student Industry Fellows Program cultivates innovation competencies among UGA graduate and undergraduate students and fosters mutually beneficial industry partnerships.
SIFP is an Executive Development Program for top talent at the University of Georgia and is open to students of every college and every major. Grounded in the practice of human-centered design, the program emphasizes three areas:

Ambassador Programs
Active Learning Ambassadors
AL Ambassadors work with the Active Learning Director and the management team to talk about Active Learning at UGA to groups of students, faculty, administrators, and external audiences. They will also help plan and staff the annual UGA Active Learning Summit, advise the director, provide feedback on the website, and promote Active Learning in social media. Ambassadors will be recruited and selected based on their experiences with Active Learning as a student and/or a PLA.
Academic Honesty Council Student Ambassadors
Students will have the opportunity to earn Experiential Learning credit in Leadership with this year-long opportunity. Student Ambassadors will participate in Academic Honesty Panels, host an Integrity Week in the fall semester, promote academic honesty in partnership with Housing in the spring, and have opportunities to attend regional and international conferences.
Experiential Learning Ambassadors
Experiential Learning Ambassadors formally represent the Office of University Experiential Learning through outreach and education to the UGA community on experiential learning, its value, and the EL graduation requirement. Ambassadors amplify the EL story at UGA through media inquiries, external presentations, council/board meetings, in-class presentations and/or print, social, and digital campaigns. They also support the development and implementation of the Office’s strategic initiatives and will support the planning of and participation in the annual EL Summit.
Transfer Ambassadors
UGA Transfer Ambassadors use their unique transfer experiences to welcome, assist, and advocate for all new UGA transfer students while also representing their specific colleges across the broader UGA community. Transfer students who successfully complete one year of service as a Transfer Ambassador will fulfill their Experiential Learning requirement.
